JVW FC part ways with Head Coach Mitch Stevens

In a significant development for the Blue Diamonds, JVW FC has parted ways with Head Coach Mitch Stevens after a rewarding 2.5-year tenure at the helm of the team. Stevens took over the reins midway through the 2022 season and quickly made his mark. Steering the club to their best-ever finish in the Hollywoodbets Super League in 2023 and securing a commendable 3rd place.

Stevens’ appointment of Head Coach brought a fresh approach to JVW FC, with the focus on reshaping the team’s tactics and bringing in new strategies. His leadership was a driving force behind the team’s success in 2023, as they reached new heights in the competitive league, displaying remarkable resilience and skill.

The 2024 season proved to be more challenging. The team struggled with consistency, finishing lower on the log after a series of frustrating results, with 55 points including only 15 wins, 10 draws and 5 losses. While the team’s performance was not reflective of the high expectations set in previous seasons, Head Coach Mitch Stevens’ efforts to rebuild and reshape the squad remained evident throughout the year. His vision and work ethic helped to elevate JVW FC during his time in charge, and for that, the club expresses gratitude.

“A heartfelt thank you to you Mitch. You helped our club find it’s direction again. Your insight, dedication, and passion have been invaluable to the club and I want to thank you personally for the impact you’ve made to the start of my coaching career. We are extremely grateful for everything you have done for the Blue Diamonds and wish you all of the best in your future endeavours” added Janine van Wyk
