Player Pathways a success at JVW

Two Developed Diamonds move on to other teams in the Hollywoodbets Super League and highlight the importance of the program and the success of player pathways at JVW.

The Blue Diamonds bid a bittersweet but proudful farewell to two Developed Diamonds Cimone Sauls and Tiisang (TC) Leseyane. Sauls and Leseyane have been part of the JVW Program for Football Development for many years and transitioned within the program, through the JVW Schools league, and Football Club. Both are successful graduates of the Diamond program.

CIMONE SAULS IN ACTION FOR THE JVW U13 TEAM

Beaming with pride on the success of the program, we look back at a couple of milestones during their time at the club. They joined the JVW Football club’s youth team at the age of 12 and showed their spark in an all-girls team playing in boys league. Cimone joined the JVW ESCA program, where she spent her high school years being able to focus solely on football at school. TC spent her school years competing in the JVW Girls School League for Waterstone College. The prestigious Dana Cup in Denmark was a tournament that both players featured in, in 2019 and gained experience playing against international club teams. At top flight, the two moved up to the JVW first team and featured in the Hollywoodbets League.

TIISANG LESEYANE IN ACTION FOR THE FIRST TEAM

Cimone represented South Africa when she received call ups for the U17 Women’s National team, U20’s and Banyana Banyana.

Through the player pathways, Cimone signed with Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, while TC will study and play with the University of Pretoria (TUKS), through the academic pathway. We believe that both moves will assist with growth in their football careers and are proud that our visions of player pathways still serve as an instrumental tool to grow Women’s football.

Club Co-founder Janine Van Wyk shares a message

“TC and Cimone have been successful graduates in the program and are the epitome of what JVW provides in terms of individual player development. They were patient and went through the correct pathway to reach their full potential at the club. We are extremely proud to have developed such talented individuals and would like to wish them all the best in their next endeavours”

OTHER PATHWAY SUCCESS

We continue to highlight our pathways through young Diamonds, Julia Goncalves, Bonolo Mokoma, Katlego Mohale (new call up) and Casey Gordon. The four are part of the U17 Women’s National Team campaigning for qualification for the U17 WWC.

The Blue Diamonds were hosted by the U17 Women’s National team at Fun Valley for a preparation and preseason match respectively, but were without the services of assistant coach Unathi Mabena who is also with the National team as a performance analyst.
