SKLZ SOUTH AFRICA PARTNERS WITH JVW FC

SKLZ South Africa has announced a partnership with the JVW Girls’ Football Club, founded by Banyana Banyana captain, Janine van Wyk.

A powerhouse of products used by the world’s leading teams and athletes, SKLZ will be supplying football-specific training equipment, designed to improve agility, strength and speed.

The JVW Girls Football Development Program was founded in 2012 by the South African Senior Women’s National Team captain, Janine van Wyk. Van Wyk, who has been playing football since the age of 5, and is currently the highest capped footballer in the Country, wanted to give young girls the opportunity to play football in a structured and competitive environment. Within the JVW Girls Football Development Program, they are encouraged to achieve their goals, and learn from the pros.

With the vision to raise the standard and level of women’s football in South Africa, van Wyk launched a program which currently serves as a platform from which female football players can excel. Consisting of a High School League, boasting over 160 teams, and a Football Club which caters for girls from the age of 9, the Program sees more than 3000 girls actively participating in the program each year.

The JVW Football Club was established in 2013, with the intention to focus on the development of the female football player whilst providing a platform for them to reach higher levels in the sport. Catering for girls from as young as 9 years old, JVW FC offers girls the opportunity to learn, grow and play in a professional-like program where they are able to pursue their individual football journeys.

Van Wyk, a dedicated role model to budding female football talent, enthuses over the new alignment. “As an elite athlete, I am extremely excited and thrilled to have SKLZ come on board with my JVW Girls Football Club. Using the SKLZ equipment will support and improve the players in all aspects of their game. From shooting accuracy, passing, ball skills, speed, defence, agility, tactics… and they should, overall, just have fun in the sport they love.

On behalf of JVW Girls’ Football Club we would like to thank SKLZ South Africa for believing in the development of our programme.”

SKLZ became part of the Implus Africa portfolio of brands in 2019, joining sport and performance brands the likes of Balega, Harbinger, TriggerPoint, FuelBelt and RockTape. Available in specialist sports stores, or via Takealot and www.shopsklz.co.za.
