JVW School league nearing Playoffs

We are nearing the final fixtures of the JVW Girls School league and what a season it has been. We have welcomed over 20 new school teams into our 2015 season, but at the same time unfortunately lost one or two due to school constraints, which we are looking to see if we can work on going forward, so that every girl is able to participate in football at school level.

With over 1800 girls actively participating in a structured and competitive league, we have been able to identify talent that is widespread around Gauteng, creating more interest in the sport and positively impacting club level too. Club teams are urged to market themselves correctly so that young girls are able to find a club suitable for their skill levels.

The 2015 season has seen teams rise to the top, going into the matches with sheer determination to secure positive results, which will enable them to move onto League Playoffs, where the best teams will fight it out to be crowned JVW School League Champions. 2014 School League Champs, Reddam House Bedfordview, have confidently eased through the group stages of the league with the hopes of holding onto their title. The Bedfordview based school team has been named as the team to beat in the league, after they also won the JVW Football Festival held earlier in the year.

In other streams, Benoni High School have finished off their group matches without conceding a single goal, with Boksburg High looking good to finish second in their stream. Norkem Park have also been a team to watch this year as they too have topped their league, while St Francis College and Ashton College are competing for a second place finish. Joburg Stream 1 has been a tough group this year, with Mondeor High, Midrand High and Hoerskool Vorentoe all seeking top places.

The Pretoria league has also been a success to date with 10 teams competing to be included in their first ever Playoff round in the JVW league. Crawford College PTA, Pretoria High School for Girls, Cullinan Combined and Pretoria Technical High school are all in the running for top spots, leaving the final fixture as the crucial decider of final league standings.

The 2015 JVW Schools League playoffs have been scheduled for the 10/11 October 2015.
