What we have achieved before us is an opportunistic victory. A victory that most thought was unachievable, and a Victory that we have worked extremely hard for.
In just 4 years, JVW have climbed the ladder to success!
A victory that started from a 4-year plan has now materialised itself:
We are the 2016 Gauteng Sasol League CHAMPIONS.
This season JVW was drawn in the same stream as 3 time SASOL League Champions, Palace Super Falcons; Defending Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns and other top contenders, making it a difficult stream in which JVW had to work extremely hard to secure a top spot. Having lost and drawn one game a piece, JVW managed to add credentials to its history book by beating top adversaries Sundowns, Falcons and Croesus all in the same year, and remained undefeated at home in 2016.
Throughout the years, and since JVW was first introduced into the SASOL League, the First Team has progressively climbed up the ranks year after year proving that with time, patience and continuous resilience anything is possible and remarkably finished first in the stream ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns on Goal difference.
The dream has now become even more palpable after JVW beat Tuks FC a staggering 6 goals to nil, at the final Provincial playoffs held at Germiston Stadium, to determine the Gauteng Champions. This game was a stern representation of zeal and unmistakable presence that JVW wants to showcase to the rest of the country, that we are a force to be reckoned with.
The opportunity is here, as we critically prepare over the next 3 weeks for the Sasol League National Championships which will be held in Mossel Bay from the 5 – 11 December 2016. The Winning team from each of the 9 provinces will travel to the Western Cape to battle it out to be crowned National Champions.
“We has finally reached our goal of being crowned Gauteng Champions and it’s an achievement we are definitely be proud of. As we step onto the next platform with an overwhelming desire to do the best that we can, our First is and always will be a united team working together towards a common goal. It has been a remarkable journey thus far, and I am certain that we have what it takes to get Gold” – Team Manager, Lauren Duncan added.
Following the Sasol League National Championship draw, JVW have been grouped with Durban Ladies and UWC Ladies.
