Making a mark in their first match of the year, all five new additions had a feel for the 2019 Sasol League bagging their first win of the Season with their team.
Schulz, Wade and Moodaly were named in the starting XI against Nicko Taurus yesterday, whilst Walker and Ludwig both made their debuts in the second half of the match. The first team went out with a bang.
Nomathemba Ntsibande opened the scoring and netted the first goal in the 9th minute from the penalty spot after Gabriela Salgado was brought down in the box. JVW made sure they stuck to their game plan, with Salgado scoring the second before the half time break and third shortly after the start of the second half with both assists coming from Captain on the day, Ntisbande. Continuing with full steam, Ludwig who came on for Sandisiwe Nohayi at the break, scored her debut goal in the 57th minute, and was unlucky not to score a second just minutes later after a cross from Natalia Valentine was misread by the young forward. Not leaving any stone unturned, and firing away while their Banyana Banyana counterparts are away on National Duty, the first team continued to pile on the pressure. Wade managed to bag her first goal of the year after her shot deflected off the Nicko Taurus defender into the goal to make it 5-0, whilst Ludwig scored her brace in the 78th minute from an assist by Goalkeeper Yolula Tsawe.
The match ended 6 – 0. “Firstly I would like to congratulate the ladies for the victory. It wasn’t going to be easy coming up against a side that had already played 2 games and were log leaders but we had a game plan and I’m glad we stuck to it hence the result. We looked at the first half and how they played, tried to capitalise and take advantage of their mistakes in the 2nd half, which worked for us. A few team goals, which was refreshing to see and those are all the positives we take into our next matchA big congratulations also to all the debutants who came in and played like they’ve been with the team for a long time already” – added Player of the match Ntsibande The Bedfordview based team will travel to newly promoted Lusaka Ladies next week Saturday.
